PI Focus February edition

I am accredited as a first tier expert with APIL. In the interests of balance I enquired with FOIL to see if they maintain a similar register of experts for their members but unfortunately they do not at present. If the position changes I will let you know.

APIL members should by now have received the February edition of PI Focus and will be able to read my article revisiting the decision of Carver v BAA Plc and the impact of the decision in Multiplex Constructions (UK) Ltd v Cleveland Bridge (UK) Ltd.

Of no particular interest to my readers the latter case relates to one of the myriad of disputes rising out of the construction of the new Wembley stadium. Champagne at WembleyI know it cost a ridiculous amount of money to build and took ages to complete but what a great job they’ve done! I saw it first hand last year when I saw my home town team St Helens earn a narrow win against Hull FC in the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final. I suppose the experience was enhanced by me being the joint guest of the catering manager of the stadium and the MD of Laurent Perrier (who happens to be my brother). Needless to say we ate and drank very well. A far cry from my first visit in 1978 when we made do with a Pimblett’s pie and can of coke.
